Origin Story of Matchr
Matchr didn’t start as a business plan. It started as a feeling. A pull. A moment when I realized I had to build something different.
After spending years at Unilever, I knew I didn’t fit the corporate mold. I wanted movement. Ownership. Impact. I wanted to be surrounded by people who believed in possibility. The corporate world taught me discipline and structure, but it also showed me what I didn’t want: layers of politics, slow decisions, and people disconnected from purpose.
My first step into entrepreneurship was joining a graduate recruitment platform as a partner. It was fast, exciting, and full of lessons. I learned how powerful action can be. I also learned what happens when leadership forgets that people are the heart of every business. It was a toxic environment and it slowly chipped away at my confidence. By the time I left, I was exhausted and unsure of myself.
But deep down, I knew this was my moment. I had always wanted to build something of my own. Something that proved that business and humanity can grow together. That when people feel trusted and connected, extraordinary things happen.

That’s when I called Martin, an old friend from my fraternity days. I thought he might know of a role for me. Instead, that call changed everything. I shared an idea that had been living in my head. What if we could build a completely new way of scaling teams? What if companies could access world-class recruitment, embedded in their culture, flexible and global, without the limits of traditional agencies?
Martin paused for a second and said, “That’s exactly what I’ve been looking for.” And just like that, Matchr was born.
We didn’t have a perfect plan. What we did have was energy, trust, and a shared belief that we could make it happen. Within months, our first clients signed on. I packed my bags and moved to Kyiv, Ukraine, to set up our first delivery center. I didn’t know the language. I didn’t know anyone. But I knew that action creates opportunity. For the next year and a half, I worked eighty-hour weeks, fully immersed in building Matchr from the ground up.
From the beginning, we did things differently. We didn’t want to be another recruitment agency. We wanted to become an extension of our clients’ teams. We embedded ourselves in their culture, helped them grow faster, and gave them the flexibility to scale without losing their identity.
It worked. Our results spoke for themselves.
We helped companies like Miro, TikTok, Booking.com, and Heineken find and hire incredible talent around the world. We grew into a global, remote-first team of recruiters and sourcers across seventeen countries.
But what makes me proudest isn’t the growth or the numbers. It’s the culture we’ve built. A culture where people care. Where they feel empowered to take action, to connect deeply, and to believe that anything is possible.
Because that’s what Matchr really is. It’s a company built on a mindset. The mindset that changed my life.
When you combine action, connection, and purpose, everything becomes possible.
That belief took me from corporate boardrooms to Kyiv apartments, from burnout to Ironman finish lines, from fear to freedom. And it’s the same belief that drives Matchr today.
We don’t just build teams. We build possibility.
